What we look for in a resume

With the recent departure of our warehouse assistant, we were on the hunt for a new Saski team member and were flooded with resumes! So, we thought we'd put together what we're looking for in a resume incase you were ever applying for a job at Saski Collection.

Starting off...

Concise Content - Candidates with resumes that can articulate their expertise without using too many meaningless acronyms / fluff is incredibly important. Use bullet points to outline skills, achievements, responsibilities, etc. rather than rambling sentences.

Easy to Read - Ensure the layout of your resume is clear and consistent, containing only one type of font (bold can be used to highlight). It's important to avoid any spelling or grammar mistakes as well.

Experience match - Generally, the first thing we do when looking at a resume is check the candidate's previous work experience. Although we're open to hiring people who may want to stretch/grow into their next role, we will like to see if you acquire any of the skills, traits and behaviours necessary to be successful in the role.

Career Progression - Along with experience match, we also like to keep an eye out for signs of career progression/increasing responsibility in a candidates previous work experience. This helps us identify the reason why you're applying for the position and if you'd make a good fit! So it's important to include this information if you can!

Education / professional development - It is important to include any relevant education or professional training you have in any resume! Depending on the job role you're applying for we will look to see if there is anything that makes your candidacy stand out, and education can be the thing that sets you apart!

Personality - Personality and values tends to be related to how well a candidate will fit into a company’s culture, their work team, and the job itself. If you can incorporate facets of your personality into your resume this can help you stand out among other candidates.

Last but not least, if you're applying for a job online or via email make sure your email is from a professional email address! If you don't have one, it's time to make one! Your full name will do!

Thats it! Good luck!
